Attorney Jon Vasey Obtains Summary Judgement for Insurance Defense Client in Iowa District Court
Attorney Jon Vasey successfully argued before the Iowa District Court for Webster County that his insurance defense client could not be held liable for damages because the Plaintiff had previously signed and released all claims resulting from injuries in a motor vehicle accident in exchange for payment. The Plaintiff sought damages arising from a motor vehicle accident. However, prior to filing suit, the Plaintiff had executed of the insured in exchange for payment. Mr. Vasey filed a Motion for Summary Judgement on behalf of his client, arguing the Plaintiff was barred from seeking damages related to the accident because she had already released all claims for damages by settling with the Defendant's insurer. The Court agreed with Mr. Vasey and entered summary judgement for his client as a matter of law and assessed all costs to the Plaintiff.
