Jon Vasey Obtains Summary Judgment for Client in Iowa District Court
The Iowa District Court for Webster County granted attorney, Jon Vasey’s, Motion for Summary Judgment in full and dismissed all claims asserted against Mr. Vasey’s client in a lawsuit arising from an alleged stabbing incident at the client’s home. The Plaintiff argued the client was responsible for a stabbing allegedly conducted by the client’s houseguest. Mr. Vasey successfully argued his client could not be held liable for the stabbing because the client could not have anticipated her houseguest would stab the Plaintiff. The Court also agreed with Mr. Vasey that the Plaintiff could not use alleged violations of city ordinances to hold the client liable. The Court entered a judgment of dismissal of the Plaintiff’s lawsuit against Mr. Vasey’s client and assessed costs to the Plaintiff.
